16th Annual Longwood University Summer Literacy Institute: Creativity in Literacy

July 25-26th, 2019

The Summer Literacy Institute is a two-day event, featuring talks by national and regional authors, networking opportunities, and vendor displays. The 16th Annual SLI’s theme is Creativity in Literacy, featuring Don Tate, Colby Sharp, and Gary Schmidt. Don Tate is an award-winning illustrator of numerous critically acclaimed books for children, and a founding host of the blog, The Brown Bookshelf. Colby Sharp is the co-founder of Nerdy Book Club and Nerd Camp Michigan, and author of The Creativity Project. Gary Schmidt is a professor of English at Calvin College in GrandRapids, Michigan and has received two Newbery Honors and a Printz Honor for his two books.

This event is sponsored by the Reading, Literacy and Learning and School Librarianship Programs, College of Education and Human Services and College of Graduate and Professional Studies.
