Balanced Literacy Two-Day Workshop

Two days focused entirely on understanding and implementing balanced literacy from the basics to application to problem solving real challenges shared by participants.  The workshop will include discussion, hands on activities, and lots of ideas and resources for you to take back to your classroom in the fall.  An overview of word study and effective instructional design to support balanced literacy will also be included. Word Study One-Day Intensive

Location: Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia | Blackwell Ballroom

Overview and deeper exploration of Word Study with hands-on practice, discussion of best practice for implementation, and exploration of resources available.  Designed for both those new to word study and those already familiar with it wishing to extend their knowledge base.  This workshop will make sure you are grounded in the essence of word study pedagogy, confident in assessing orthographic development, knowledgeable about the integration of spelling, reading, and writing development, and ready to meet your learners’ needs across the stages. Independent application and small group work will provide the opportunity for you to grow your knowledge regardless of the experience you have and range of learners you serve. Collaborative Teaching K-6 One-Day Class

June 25, 2019 | 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Location: Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia | Blackwell Ballroom

 

This class is designed for pairs of teachers (exceptional and general education teammates, if possible) to learn practical strategies for building communication and collaboration skills, instructional planning and co-teaching strategies, and methods for creating more balanced assessments to increase student achievement for all students.
