In-Home Counseling

Longwood University is currently offering an In-Home Counseling course during summer 2018. This course is available for graduate, undergraduate, or continuing education credits taught by a full-time, graduate faculty. Students will have the opportunity to also learn from licensed mental-health professionals and guest lecturers currently working in community behavioral healthcare.

• Challenges and advantages of providing care in the home
• How to obtain licensure as a professional counselor or social worker
• Discussion, role play, and additional online content

There are three options for you.  Two provide university credit and one is non-credit for CEU’s.  Please read each option to determine what fits your needs before you enroll.

In Home Counseling for Graduate Credit                $825.00
PCOU 595 – P03 Home-Based Counseling – CRN #6331 

If you require university credit and have completed a Bachelor’s degree, you should select this option.  Completion of this graduate level course earns 3 graduate credits, which will be reflected on an official Longwood transcript.

In Home Counseling for Undergraduate Credit                       $825.00
PPSY 495 – P03 Special Topics: In-Home Counseling – CRN #6336 

If you require university credit and have NOT completed a Bachelor’s degree, you should select this option.  Completion of this course earns 3 undergraduate credits, which will be reflected on an official Longwood transcript.

Enrollment in credit bearing courses commits you to the university’s drop and withdrawal policies listed below.  Failure to participate in the course does not remove you from the course and you will receive a failing grade on the transcript as well as remain liable for the full cost of the course.  Please email us at professionalstudies.longwood.edu or call 434.395.2719 to drop or withdraw from the course

Dropping the course:  If you request to be dropped from the course by 5:00 p.m. July 9th you will be removed from the course and refunded 100% of the tuition you’ve paid.

Withdrawing from the course:  After 5:00 p.m. on July 9th you can withdraw from the course.  You will be removed from the course and a grade of “W” will be posted on your transcript.  However, you will NOT be refunded any tuition and if you have not yet paid, you will remain liable for the full amount due.  Accounts unpaid go to collections.

Non-Credit Option:

Non-Credit Class: In Home Counseling    $400.00              Register

If you do not need university credit, you can enroll in the non-credit class and receive 35 hours, equivalent to 3.5 CEU’s.  Non-credit classes can not be transferred for academic credit.  Hours are awarded upon satisfactory completion of the class.  Partial hours are not awarded if you fail to complete the class and pass all requirements.

Payment is due upon enrollment in our non-credit courses.  We will refund $350.00 if you decide not to participate in the class and contact us before 5:00 p.m. on July 9th.  Payment is nonrefundable after 5:00 p.m. on July 9th.  Please contact us at professionalstudies@longwood.edu or call 434.395.2719.
