We offer academic instruction on campus through specialized training, workshops, symposiums, institutes, and special learning events. Our partnerships have included on-campus networks and professional societies to offer these learning opportunities:

Partner Programs

longwood community music program
Longwood is launching the Longwood Center for Community Music, an outreach program for beginning piano students, both children and adults. Soon, dozens of children will gather in Wygal Hall to learn about music, move to its rhythms and start to explore the piano, other instruments and even vocal classes. Private adult lessons will be arranged on an individual basis.

virginia holocaust museum

Alexander Lebenstein Teacher Education Institute

The Teacher Education Institute is a ten-day course, assisting educators with their understanding of the Holocaust and genocide. Sessions focus on historical background and pedagogy which link to the Virginia Standards of Learning requirements. TEI is offered in partnership with Longwood University and is funded through a generous gift from Weinstein Properties.

longwood summer literacy institute

Since 2003, the Summer Literacy Institute, a two-day event, has featured talks by national and regional authors, networking opportunities and vendor displays. This event is sponsored by Reading, Literacy, & Learning and School Librarianship Programs, the College of Education and Human Services, and the College of Graduate and Professional Studies.
